Today we move apart - Ştefan Augustin Doinaş
added by: vasysm

Today we no longer sing, no longer smile.
Standing where an enchanted season is starting,
today we move apart
as the waters from land have been parting.

In our silence it all feels so commonplace.
This is how it must be, each one of us implies.
Nearby, the blue shade
for truths thought before testifies.

In a short while you will be the sea blue,
I will be the earth with all sins.
Big birds through the skies shall seek you
bearing in their maws good fragrance, food bits.

People will think we are enemies.
Between us, the world will stand still
like a forest for centuries
full of beasts with striped fleece.

No one will know that we are no less closer
and my soul, as the evening falls,
like the shore shaping itself from the waters,
takes the forgotten shape of your bodily form...

Today we do not kiss, there's no desire.
Standing where an enchanted season is starting,
today we move apart
as the waters from land have been parting.

Before long you will be the reflected sky glow,
I will be the black sun, the earth.
Before long the wind shall blow.
In a short while the wind shall blow forth...
